The National Football League

While there are certainly good internships available within the NFL, the application process is a bit different. The NFL does not have one sole department that is in charge of assigning interns to individual head trainers; as such, candidates must apply to each head trainer on their own. Some of the things that internships can provide include helping to set up and break down equipment for practices, providing players with instructions for stretches, taping on-the-field action for later review, providing support during practices, attending to injured players on the field and overseeing player rehabilitation.

Mayo Clinic Ė Minnesota Athletic Training Program Summer Internship

The Mayo School of Health Sciences offers one eight-week sports team internship and two four-week athletic training clinical internships. During their time in this Minnesota facility, candidates will work with a Rochester-based sports team in order to learn the skills they need to evaluate patients, create healthcare plans, discuss treatments with physicians and properly document injuries as well as the patientsí overall statuses. Candidates must be seeking a Bachelorís or Masterís degree in a recognized athletic training program; must have completed basic courses in anatomy, physiology, and athletic training; and must have a GPA of 3.0 or better.
